The Stories We Live By: The Mitzvah of Not Saying lesson offers students an opportunity to understand the importance of the Jewish value of tokhehah (giving rebuke) as they read about a rabbi who refuses to speak. In the story of Rabbi Yisrael of Vinitz comes to visit a banker and sits silently. Over the visit, he manipulates a banker into finally hearing and reflecting on a request he probably would have ignored if the rabbi came to him directly.
