Grades: 6-8 The What is? series is a basic introduction to Jewish literacy.
This lesson consists of two basic activities. The first involves mastering the art of tying a tzitzit. The second is a two-part exploration of the meaning and purpose of a tallit, involving the close-reading of a series of rabbinic and biblical texts. Students should gain a solid understanding of the meaning of the tallit and the mitzvah of tzitzit.
