Think Prophets: Miriam

Grades: 6-Adult       Think Prophets is a series of fourteen lessons that provide a patchwork opportunity to study the third of the Bible known as "The Prophets."

By examining three biblical texts students will see how Miriam's role as a prophet was first defined. By reading summaries of seven midrashic incidents, students will understand how her role grew and was further defined in rabbinic literature. When they are done they will have a sense of Miriam, of how she contributes to our understanding of what a prophet does, and on how Midrashim embroider a biblical text.
