Grades: 6-Adult Think Prophets is a series of fourteen lessons that provide a patchwork opportunity to study the third of the Bible known as "The Prophets."
This lesson contains historical background material along with several pieces of text from the Book of Ezekiel. Ezekiel was known for delivering harsh criticism of the Jewish people's ways both in terms of their morality and their worship. Though he was born in Israel, he did his prophetic work from Babylon where he was taken captive with the first wave of prisoners in 597 b.c.e. and from where he heard the news of the destruction of the Temple in 586 b.c.e. He probably prophesied until about 571 b.c.e. Since he was from a priestly family, we can understand his focus on describing the destruction of the Temple as punishment and his visions at the end of the book of a rebuilt Temple.
