    Stories We Live by: The New Tongue  tells the story of Shmuel ha-Nagid, who is regularly insulted by a shopkeeper when he walks by. One day, Shmuel ha-Nagid is walking with his friend, the King. The kings sees how his friend is insulted, and tells Shmuel ha-Nagid to have the shopkeeper's tongue cut out. Instead, Shmuel ha-Nagid showers gifts on the shopkeeper, and the next time he and the King walk by, the shopkeeper speaks only kind words to Shmuel ha-Nagid. This story teaches the value of Lashon ha-Ra.
